Bixby Voice

Bixby Voice is an AI-based Voice Assistant designed by Samsung for its mobile devices and adds voice control for Samsung's digital assistant Bixby.

Other voice assistants, Bixby can do a personal assistant job for a customer. Such works could include:

• Listening to an audiobook.
• Requesting information, similarly to inputting a search query.
• Making reservations.
• Adding items to a shopping list.
• Performing mathematical calculations.  
• Playing music.

Voice Assistant like Bixby has been built on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning and Voice Recognition Technology. As the end user communicates with a digital assistant, AI programming uses sophisticated algorithms to learn from data input and is better in predicting user requirements. Other voice assistants, Bixby is designed with more advanced cognitive computing technologies, which will allow it to understand and do multi-step requests with many interactions, and more complex tasks like selecting and booking seats in the theater .

Bixby uses Natural Language Understanding (NLU) to interpret speech and text as well as to use touch input. Bixby is activated by pressing the side button under the voice command ("Hi Bixby") or Volume Control. The assistant then listens wisely to the user for tasks, questions, device control and more. Bixby understands apps and their controls and can run in the background of any other app. These additional capabilities mean that an app function such as changing the color of the pen in a drawing app for the helpful Galaxy Note is also capable of operating.

In March 2017, Bixby worked on more than 200 countries on the Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus. Samsung keep to work on the number of compatible apps and languages. The company looks at Bixby as an increasing competitor for options like Google Now, Google Assistant, Apple's Siri, Amazon's Alexa and Microsoft's Cortana.
