Different Search Engine Views
Major search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo index content of a large portion of the web and allow users to query their indexes to find relevant pages.Specific content search engines can be more selective about which part of the web being crawled and indexed.
Specific search engines in the country can give preference to in-language websites on English websites.
Individual web sites, especially large corporate sites, can use a search engine to index and retrieve only the contents of their own site. Some major search engine companies license or sell their search engines for use on individual sites.
Where to Search
Google is the search engine of likes for most people in the world. The quality of their results defeats their competitors. Search results are integrated with their other databases: Maps, News, Pictures, Gmail and Video (Google is the owner of YouTube). Google has shifted years to provide strict results based on the popularity (link) to focus more on user intent of the query. Some users may prefer to use Yahoo or Bing for their other integrated offerings. Some users may prefer a site that prioritizes data privacy such as DuckDuckGo.
