Siri is Apple's personal assistant for iOS, MacOS, TVOS and WatchOS devices that uses voice recognition and is operated by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Siri's Voice
A software company, Scansoft, which was merged with Nuance Communications in 2005, hired the voiceover artist Susan Bennett that year when scheduled star was absent. Bennett recorded four hours of his voice every day for a month at a home recording studio, and sentences and phrases were added together to make Siri sound. By the time a friend emailed him in 2011, Bennett did not know that he had become Siri's voice. Although Apple has never acknowledged that Bennett was the original Siri voice, CNN's audio experts confirmed it.Karen Jacobsen, a voiceover artist identified for her work on the GPS system, provided the original Australian female voice. John Biggs, a former tech journalist, used to provide Siri's British male voice.
Apple has developed a new female voice for iOS 11 with deep learning techniques by recording hundreds of speech by hundreds of candidates.
How It Works
Siri's work primarily resides in the cloud, with key automated speech recognition and natural language interpretation. A small speech recognizer, however, constantly speaks on the local device, "Hey Siri." When speech identifier detects the phrase, it uses a deep neural network to convert the acoustic pattern of the user's voice into probability distribution. Then, "O Siri" detector integrates the continuous stream of information from the pattern in different incidents to calculate a confidence score, which is actually "Hey Siri". If the score is high enough, the Siri gets activated.When the user speaks a command or request, Siri collects audio, converts it into a data file and sends it to the Apple server. To work, the device must be connected to the Internet for Siri. Once the voice data is in the server, it passes through different types of flowcharts, which are created by a large database of queries and answers.
If Flowchart fails to answer the question, Siri rejects the query and responds with the standard phrase: "Would you like to search the web for that?" If the query follows flowcharts successfully, the serial communicates with other apps to function. example, if the user asks "What are some park with me?" Then Siri uses the database of nearby park Yelp's to give that information to the user.

SRI International team members in 2007, Siri, Inc. Decided to create a new startup company called. SRI researcher Dag Kitlaus and Adam Cheer served as CEO and Vice President of Engineering respectively, while Tom Gruber worked as CTO.
In 2010, Apple released Siri, Inc. , After which Siri's current incarnation as a native feature on some iOS devices. Service began on iPhone 4S in 2011; In June 2012, Apple announced that it will add Siri to a third-generation iPad with the release of iOS 6 and integrate Siri with a third-party app. Siri is not available on older versions of iPhone or iPad.
